Holy Farmers Market Happiness

I have been putting off going to the farmers market here in Medford, Oregon for too long so today I took $25 and headed down.

In true ADD fashion my eyes were twitching left and right and all the home grown goodies.  Everything all shiny and sparkly.  I had to force myself to make a round before I purchased anything.

On my first trip I found a sweet lady with lots of ruby red sweet yummy cherries but it was the little red ones in the back that really grabbed my interest.  Could it really be them?  All of my canning books and blogs talk about the amazingness of tart cherry preserves.  My new friend told me they were pie cherries and gave me a taste.  We chatted a bit and I bought 3 baskets for $11.  My husband will roll his eyes on that one.  Always complaining more jars, more canning supplies more (insert food product here).  Never complains when he is eating it so that's all that matters.

Back from my tangent and to my new cherry friend. She told me to bring her back some jam and sell it to her at a ridiculously high price lol.

Well lunch is over and back to work.

Cherrypalooza

Dilly beans, dried apricot preserves, vanilla cherry jam with port, brown sugar bourbon apple butter, ancho chile cherry jam and cherry butter with brown sugar and balsamic

In true ADD fashion...

I started this blog and never used it.  I probably have a bazillion blog titles elsewhere not in use.  I will try to keep this one up..maybe!

So we found out last year that my son's "dust" allergy is actually a corn allergy.  We went to a new doctor and finally got retested.  Low and behold he did not react to one dust allergen.  Yea!! Then we saw corn.  Corn!!! It is in everything.  At first you think oh cool no corn on the cob, ok.  Yea no corn chips but no big deal.  Then HFC then your might starts whirling through everything corn is in and you should eliminate and then you have a headache.

It's been fun to say the least.  An adventure in motherhood in the works.  This leads me to my newest venture.  So monkey loves ketchup but all the ketchup that is truly corn free are uber expensive.  I mean I can afford it but why buy it if you can make it right?  Omg I am going to learn to can.

Well I learned to can but he doesn't like my ketchup.  Little butthead!!  But I now have a new hobby.  I am obsessed with canning and especially jams and preserves even though I have never liked them that much.  I love to create and create I have and now I need to create more to use up all my cans!!

Anyway my late night wine rambling must come to an end.  Maybe I will post more tomorrow.

Mommy got a new canning cookbook
